The Grand Oak Steakhouse & Bar represents the intersection of the resort’s hotel and dining services with 123 Farm’s 100% organic crop production.

In 2006, the city of Banning approved a development project on what was known as Black Bench. The property spanned 1500 acres directly north of the resort property, and the plan called for 1500 homes to be built on the portion of the land suitable for construction. The impact on the resort would have been devastating. The natural habitats of hundreds of wildlife species would have been destroyed, and our natural water supply would have been ruined by the runoff from 1500 lawns. Forming a coalition with neighborhood and environmental protection groups, Highland Springs Resort filed suit against the developer.

Black Bench In April of 2008, Riverside County Superior Court Judge Thomas Cahraman ruled against the faulty EIR and subsequently the city of Banning voted unanimously to vacate their previous approval of the entire project. In order to prevent the future possibility of development on the Black Bench property, the resort purchased a large portion of the land in 2009. This area has been virtually untouched for over 125 years and provides an ideal location for planting orchards, raising farm animals, and extended nature hikes. Bordered by our hills to the south and the San Bernardino mountains to the north, the view of the ranch property from our hiking trails is an awe-inspiring sight. The natural beauty of the land is something we hope to share not just with the visitors of today.

Hiking Trails 2500 acres of spectacular views of our picturesque landscapes.
