Adult dentistry is dental treatment for people who are 50 and over who have complex problems that require specially trained dentists with years of experience.  Why?  Because adult teeth, and the gums and bone around them, are very different from younger teeth.  They have more wear and tear naturally, but also they are more dense and yellow as a result of this density.

Mature adults also require special care because they are living healthier, longer, and far more active lives than ever.  I see more and more 70 to 80 yr-olds who are living the lifestyles of a 50-60 yr-old from my parent’s generation.

This is a great, but teeth at this age need special care both in, 1) a hi-tech viewpoint and, 2) me taking the time to take a personal interest in their situation.  I’ll explain with this short example from a patient that I saw just in the past week.

Bob F. age 77, was out at a charity golf tournament where he bit into a sandwich and, crack!, he broke off his front crown at the gum line.  I saw him the next morning and he was most concerned that he be presentable for a dinner out with friends that night.  I extracted the tooth immediately then placed and implant with a new crown.  My assistant called the next morning to see how his evening went and his wife sad, “Great, but he’s not here, he’s out golfing!”

Bob is a great example of a “senior” who isn’t slowing down for anything, even a tooth emergency!  His treatment is a example of the first point of special care for seniors which is the advanced techniques we have today that did not exist even a few years ago.

Mature adults are living longer and more active than ever before.  Because of this they need special dental care based on years of experience in adult dentistry. My mission is to provide the best in personal care for these valuable individuals who have contributed so much to us.
