David and Rona Neiman founded Danmer Custom Shutters in 1976. Since their modest start as woven window-covering retailers, Danmer has become the largest shutter manufacturer and retailer in California.

In 1979, Danmer Custom Shutters transformed itself from a retail operation into a shutter manufacturing business. Fueled by the never-ending pursuit for quality and desire to satisfy customers’ needs, Danmer expanded significantly over the next 30 years. We have now become the largest installer of shutters in California. We are currently operating a state of the art facility in Van Nuys, CA covering more than 104,000 square feet, and we service over 500 customers every month. But no matter how many customers we service, our goal is to make every customer feel as if they are our only customer.

David Neiman, recognizing the need to find a wood substitute for shutters, put his concerns for the environment and preservation of natural resources to the test. In 1987, Thermalite™ was developed. It is the only 100% non-toxic, flame retardant, water-resistant synthetic material that looks and feels exactly like wood.

Throughout the 80’s and 90’s, Danmer’s reputation for quality and customer service won them contracts with large companies such as Broadway, Weinstock, Emporium, Macy’s, Strouds, and Coldwell Bankers. Danmer Custom Shutter is currently the only approved shutter manufacturer approved by the California League of Homeowners.

We want to make sure that you know what you need to know to make an intelligent decision. We understand that this is a major purchase, and you need to find out all of your options and costs. We’re serious about shutters, and we’re committed to ensuring that you’re satisfied with your purchase.

All of our designers, installers, and manufacturing personnel are committed to the complete satisfaction of our clients. No matter how large a company we become, we realize that is our main mission.

You can’t go wrong with Danmer.
